Welcome to ELA POR!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Ms. Aknouche (pronounced “Ak-noosh”), and I am honored to introduce myself as your child’s English Literature teacher for this school year. As a first-year teacher, I come to the classroom with fresh energy, a genuine love for literature and writing, and a deep commitment to supporting every student’s academic and personal growth. I understand the powerful role a teacher plays—not only as an educator, but as a mentor and advocate. As someone who was born and raised in Jersey City and attended public schools throughout my academic journey, I know firsthand the brilliance, creativity, and resilience our students bring with them every day. My goal is to create a classroom that is not only a space for learning, but a place where your child feels seen, valued, and empowered to express themselves confidently and thrive.
In our English class, we will explore literature that represents a diverse range of voices and experiences, while also building critical thinking skills and enhancing reading and writing abilities. These foundational skills are not only essential for academic success but also for preparing students for future endeavors, whether they choose to pursue higher education or embark on other paths. I am dedicated to helping students develop the confidence and tools they need to excel in any setting. I firmly believe that strong partnerships with families are vital to a student's success. You are your child’s first and most influential teacher, and I deeply value the insight, support, and collaboration you provide. Please know that my door is always open. I welcome your questions, thoughts, and concerns at any time, and I look forward to working together to ensure a rewarding and successful year for your child.
You can reach me by email at [email protected] or through the school’s main office. I’m looking forward to an exciting and meaningful school year, and I can’t wait to see what your child will accomplish!
With gratitude and excitement,
Ms. C. Aknouche
