Straight through the morning fides I have a sophomore English class and then the advisory. So conferencing with students in pairs Guardians I'm available to zoom every school day from 1 until 3 p.m. on BJ's because my schedule is lighter I can meet with you beginning at 11:00 to so we can zoom 11 until 12 and then between 1 and 3 or if it works better for you the one at 3 time. But just know I'm in a daze I am teaching be assumed morning with the kids all right so what will we learn this year because I teach all four grade levels there's the stuff we do for every grade right here 9th grade is we work a lot on written language starting with some of the basics of sentence structure paragraph writing moving into narratives informative and compare contrast essays the books free will read this year we're going to do various short stories from various authors to read the novel The absolutely true Diary of a part-time the other Wes Moore how it went down in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet 10th grade we are going to read Shakespeare's Othello we're also going to read the hate you give which was a very popular movie years ago in the theaters so we are reading baffle during our 10th grade year we are also going to read how it went down and The Great Gatsby how it went down we usually read during 9th grade but when the school shut down March we know the students wouldn't have any way to access the book so we are going to read that book this year writing this year will focus more on complex sentence structures paragraph development compare contrast in persuasive essay writing 11th graders we are going to be started reading this week there is actually a copy for your son and daughter for the parents of an 11th grader I have a copy for each main office desk so I'm Daisy's desk with for them to you as well we're reading buried onions remotely we're also going to be in Shakespeare's Othello because it will shut down just as we were beginning to do that just wasn't going to work online so we are going to do that when we're back in the building we're also going to read The Things They Carried which is a Vietnam War story and a fictional story called Tears of a Tiger Casino in narrative and persuasive essays this year 12th grade seniors we're starting the year with a career research resume write college application essays for reading we're going to be reading Barack Obama's book dreams from my father when she wrote before he became president so we get to have a look at his childhood growing up in Hawaii and his college Years and then his year starting out as an activist in Illinois Chicago Russell going to be reading Malcolm X and Shakespeare's Macbeth for writing as I said we're going to be doing resume writing college applications and persuasive writing so that's what we are aiming to learn this year policies are the same that they have on for UAC chest the big one while we're there any remotely students are expected to login to schoology for the class and to access assignment facility platform so all the information is there students must answer that do not question for attendance purposes are there scheduled class day so late at night not 8 in the morning so they have the whole day to log in and do that if we are not I give students at least 24 hours to complete an assignment Zoom sessions are required to dance must join the meeting or they will be marked absent so I am conducting lessons during the zoom sessions so it's just like we are at school I am teaching and for nation that they need during those sessions additionally students are expected to participate in the discussions during Arizona classes so I will ask questions and ask him to elaborate on information and to share information just like as if we are in a classroom students earn participation points for joining our classes BSO points for them to learn by joining students are expected to be respectful of each other when we meet virtually or in person I have links for some really important forms for you to fill out and access as parents the first form is a form for the school where you're going to indicate whether your child is going to participate in read learning starting on November 16th so we are going back the first day of the second marking. To the building your student will have the option to come to school to learn part of the day and then on Fridays will be teaching remotely while the school is clean or your students can stay completely remote like we are doing right now but the school needs that form so we can start planning to have the proper number of students in the building for safety this one transcript request form this is mostly for the seniors as they're applying for colleges but sometimes in the future for any other grade level when you want your child's transcript there's a form for you to fill out to get that prepared for you then I've also included the form for the free and reduced lunch even though we're not in the building yet when we go back to the building lunch is going to be provided in even while we're off lunch is provided Mondays and Wednesdays their grab-and-go lunches or the students to to grab so that like I'm from sample on Mondays are going to get enough meals for Monday and to on Wednesday Spirit students will have the option to get meals for the next few days to have it last through the weekend so this is free and reduced lunch form our money gets funding based on the number of forms that are completed so even if you don't need free and reduced lunch we ask all parents to fill this out to help with the funding for our school thanks my contact information is on the ABO page students all have my email address to schoology for you to message me to schoology anytime so you can email me anytime that you have a question I'd like to schedule a meeting I will respond 24 hours if you email me during the school day I'm responding to you whenever I'm not in class so please please reach out with any questions or concerns you have for me and I will get by and most definitely if you want a one-on-one meeting with me I am available just send me a day and time that works for you all rights to some for more but those scheduling the conferences so I do you zoom 2K classes in to meet with students and their parents and Guardians during school days I've been working one-on-one with students all ready to help them answer questions about assignments or other questions about school related stuff in so parents I'm happy to meet with you anytime during the school day I can meet with you on 123 in the afternoons Monday through Friday and then on B days I'm available from 11 until 12 to do conferences Peter parents are students when I have open swim sessions in the afternoon the link is posted in each of my students courses in schoology so there's no specific time for the student I just send the link and it's from 1 until 3 whenever they have questions about anything for me I'm there and if you do want to schedule a zoom conference schedule the email me at least one or two days in advance to schedule that conference just so I can check my schedule and set up the zoom and make sure I'm not meeting with another parent or student at the time that you are asking to meet I thank you for doing those in advance rights of that ends the slideshow and as I said earlier this video and the slideshow link is going to be posted in deadly El so that you can access it anytime you want right so I am excited that we are at the beginning of the school year and I look forward to going back in the building to work with the students in November all right thank you for stopping by
