Ms. Sambula's English 1 Website

About Me!
I was born in NYC, and have lived in Jersey City for eleven years.  This is my 6th year at UACHS, and have enjoyed every moment.  My students are everything to me!

If I try to explain where my teaching philosophy comes from, I would have to say that my personal experience has shaped my teaching philosophy. In other words, my life’s canvas has served as the background for the painting that I want my students to see. Yes, some of the colors are bright and illuminating, but some colors are dark or dispiriting. Therefore, I cannot say that my teaching philosophy is any one thing; it is more of a feeling instead of a message, which I want my students to be left with. I want my scholars to know that they can connect and trust me because I, just like them, have a story to tell.

About My Class!
English 1 is the foundation for high school English courses. I encourage critical analysis and problem-solving skills to be used in the daily practice of thinking, writing, and reading. Students will be reading a variety of literature including, but not limited to, Romeo and Juliet, personal narratives, novels, and current articles. Also, a variety of technology will be incorporated in order to maximize student interest and learning.
