Hello UACHS students and parents.

Thank you for your collaboration in this distance learning due to global crisis. Remote learning will continue except during Spring Break from April 10 to April 17, 2020. Please follow the instructions given by Mr. Lugo and the school administration for updates on UACHS website. 3^rd mark period has been extended until Friday, April 10^th, 2020.

Spanish Lesson plans will be posted on my Edlio page and Schoology daily. Click on Edlio and/or Schoology to see the posts on both platforms. The lesson plan describes what students can do on every school day.

Course Description: An effective way to assist students is by developing comprehensible and stimulating lesson plans that support all learning styles and language abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My objective is to incorporate a variety of resources to accommodate students via visual, audio, and other methods. In order for them to learn Spanish, I will integrate activities and technology from authentic sources. My goal as a Spanish teacher is to foster and maintain an open, honest, communicative and supportive online learning classroom where students feel special and appropriately challenged. I encourage all parents to log in to Power School/ Edlio and Schoology to monitor students (your children's) progress in class on a daily basis, to see what has been assigned, and to check attendance. Please contact the school at (201) 200-3200 for your log in and password as needed. All students must submit their classwork accordingly. Attendance will be waived even when the classwork is late for this 3^rd mark period except for the online conference class every Wednesday from April 1^st, 2020. I wish all my students lots of positive energy during this remote learning period.

Grading Policy:

Test:                            50%

Quizzes: Will be given periodically after finishing vocabulary/ grammar/culture classwork in each unit session.

Test: Will be given at the end of every unit.

Homework: Just to study what has been taught for quizzes and tests.

Classwork: Includes all daily classwork activities, which has to be submitted ONLY on Schoology for grade. Please do not email the classwork to me.

Instructions: 

Daily work includes:

1. A Do-Now assignment as a preparation work for a new lesson.
2. A new lesson to read, textbook photo to read/ and do or a video to watch/do among other activities.
3. An assignment related to the new lesson, will be an online interactivity or a written assignment on Schoology.
4. A closing quiz after every session (vocabulary/ grammar/ culture) on Schoology.

Daily work must be posted where it's assigned to be done on Schoology by 11:59 pm in order to be graded. Missing assignment will unfortunately reduce the overall average for the mark period.

Emergency Instructions Outline

My classes have a same pattern instruction for every session. We deal first with the vocabulary, then grammar, which includes vocabulary and finally culture which integrates the three components (vocabulary/ grammar/ culture). I am always posting announcements for updates. All assignments are posted on Schoology for the submission of work completed. Students, parents and I can see if, and when an assignment was submitted or not.

The conference class will be every Wednesday as follow:

Period 2: 9 to 9:40 am

Period 3: 10 to 10:40 am

Period 4: 11 to 11:40 am

Period 5: 12 to 12:40 pm

Period 7: 1 to 1:40 pm

Period 8: 2 to 2:40 pm

Attendance on Wednesdays will be ONLY taken according to participation on the online conference class. 

Communication:

I will be available for any help or clarification during every school day between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. I will respond in a period of two hours to a day due to the busy workload. You can send me a message to the following email:
