Online Educational Resources

UACHS students can use the following websites and apps to practice skills they need to work and to pursue topics and challenges they'd like to explore. Teachers often assign tasks on these websites/apps, but students can use them independently as well. Students who do not know their login to a particular website should contact their teacher for that particular subject or Ms. Chenelle in the main office.

BookShare (W) – library of ebooks and audiobooks available for classified students. Most books are available, but they have to be added to our library before a student can access them. See Ms. Chenelle to add books to our library. See Ms. Terry to check if a student has an account or if a student qualifies for one.

Newsela (W/A) – resource for current events articles, updated daily. Articles are available in a range of reading levels and in Spanish and accompanied by multiple-choice and open-ended comprehension questions. Students can also highlight and annotate the articles as they read.

OverDrive (W/A) – library of ebooks and audiobooks for all students, faculty, and staff. Most books in the English curriculum and a wide range of young adult literature and contemporary nonfiction are available, including many as audiobooks as well. See Ms. Chenelle for login info and to request books you would like added to the library. (W) – website where students can build their vocabulary and practice word skills on their own or based on readings assigned in their classes. Students can use it independently or participate in schoolwide or statewide challenges with their classes.

PearsonRealize (W) – math textbook and supplementary instruction and practice materials for Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.  Math teachers often assign materials in PearsonRealize as class work or homework. Students can access PearsonRealize both at school and at home from any device with internet access. (W) – website that will quiz students on math skills and keep a running tally of how many correct/incorrect answers are given.

Khan Academy (W/A) – Videos explaining topics in Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calculus, and Calculus. (W) – Website that has each math course broken down by standard/topic.

Plato/Edmentum (W/A) – individualized prescriptions for students in English and math based on performance on the Critical Reading and Critical Math Assessments. Students can access their prescriptions at school and at home from any device with internet access. English and math teachers are assigning the prescriptions (or portions of them) for students to complete by certain dates in preparation for the PARCC and for remediation. Plato also has online test prep for SAT and other tests for seniors.

Schoology (W/A) – website/app where students can access assignments and updates, and even complete and submit assignments, for many of their classes.

Study Island (W) – website where biology and calculus students can access online learning modules assigned by their teachers.
