Welcome to Exploring Art! I am the teaching artist, Rachel Baron, also known as Miss B. In this class, we will be exploring art! We will be navigating how to use an array of media: graphite, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic paint, and sculpture. Through our artmaking, we will learn about the aesthetic properties of artmaking, how to critique our artwork and the artwork of master artists, the history of art, and how art is a part of every aspect of our lives. We will be thinking critically, sharing constructively, and learning how to create!
Here at UACHS, I am continuing my craft as both an artist and an educator. I am a recent graduate of Montclair State University, where I have earned a Bachelors of Art in Fine Art, a Masters of Teaching, and the two teaching certificates of P-12 Teacher of Art and P-12 Teacher of Students with Disabilities. I am an exhibited artist as I have displayed my work in a gallery show in Bayonne, NJ, as well as at Montclair State University's Network of Educational Renewal Summer Conference.
