Creative Writing students will have a wonderful opportunity this year to learn self-expression and how to reach within themselves to put forth art on the page. After reading and examining texts, the pupils will be ready to mold their style with the help of these texts. Students will be writing short stories, memoirs, plays, and even some poetry. Through writing exercises, the kids will discover thoughts and emotions within them that they did not know existed, and they will produce fictional or non-fictional works. Most importantly, they will enjoy the writing process, and revel in the finished product. 

This year, we will be reading the following short stories: "Fiesta 1980," by Junot Diaz, "The Tell Tale Heart" and "The Masque of the Red Death," by Poe, "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings," by Marquez, and "A&P," by Updike. We will read Angela's Ashes," by Frank McCourt, for our memoir. For drama, we will read "A Doll's House," by Ibsen, and Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream," by Shakespeare.
