Welcome to Film and Literature! In this course we will critically discuss the relationship between literature and film. Throughout this course we will read a vast array of materials including but not limited to, a young adult novel, novel, short stories, a Shakespeare play, and will read various articles related to the art of literature converted to film. All the literature read will be critically discussed in a manner that will incite conversation when viewed on film. Exploring the mediums in a relational way will open the student’s critical eyes to deeper meaning while reading.  A variety of technology and methods will be used in the course to maximize student engagement and interest. This course requires that students be engaged verbally both formally and informally. Students will be required to produce responses in the form of relational essays to all material that is critiqued in class. There will also be quizzes and tests related to all vocabulary and terminology covered in class. Parents are advised that some of the films shown will have a rating of R due to mature content brought on by conflict.
